ABOUT

The skills and knowledge required to deliver a successful event programme fall into two broad categories; Logistical management and content production.

There are a many educational bodies offering extensive training in the logistical element. There are, however, very few educational options if you want to learn about content production. Courses are available in TV, film and theatre production and while elements are relevant to live events the majority is not. The reality is most event production specialists have learnt their craft on the job....until now.

To fill this educational gap the Show Production Institute (spi) now offers a range of courses for communications professionals, event organisers and presenters in the principles, skills and techniques of content production and delivery. After all, the content is the reason why people attend events, and the way in which the content is developed and delivered will determine your success.

Rob Vass, Managing Director and Founder, spi

Rob Vass, Managing Director and Founder, spi"In an age of digital I remain a complete advocate of the live event and the power of live communication to win an audience and drive behavioural change. I have been lucky enough to work with many great clients as well as mentor and train many superb event professionals. I was inspired to start the institute by those people as well as the feedback received from the industry. I hope our courses will be a springboard for aspiring professionals to master a craft that is unquestionably challenging but ultimately very rewarding"

Rob has worked in the Business Events industry for over 20 years. In this time he has delivered many hundreds of events with budgets varying from thousands to millions for a wide range of top 500 companies including Microsoft, HP, Telstra, and Pfizer.

Peter Pecotic, Co Founder spi and Managing Director of Turningpoint Solutions

Peter Pecotic, Co Founder spi and Managing Director of Turningpoint Solutions"In my experience the most successful event and communications professionals not only know 'how' but also 'why'... and the why is delivered through the message, the content. In founding spi we want to impart the skill of not only delivering the perfect environment but also the perfect message. I have been fortunate enough to work on many election campaigns both in Australia and the UK and nowhere is the message more important or the consequence of 'getting it wrong' greater. I hope by imparting our acquired knowledge through the Institute we can give aspiring professionals the skills to deliver content that will truly engage their audience and the confidence to push boundaries"

Peter has been based in China since 2005 where he has produced event projects for brands like: General Motors, The Guggenheim Museum, Groupe Danone and the Shanghai Stock Exchange in destinations all across the Asia Pacific region.
